Summer 2020

Some pictures from almost 2 years ago.  I am really behind, but it is fun to look back and these and look forward to doing similar things this summer!

Alex's 11th birthday!

We had planned to go to Great Wolf Lodge, but they were closed because of COVID and our reservations were canceled.  We opted for a more selcuded and quiet vacation and rented a yurt along the Platte River up near Greeley.   It was so neat to stay right by the river, and the kids had a blast.

Another cool experience was the bird nest that was made right outside our front door.  After we discovered a few  tiny eggs we waited with much anticipation for the baby birds to make their appearance!

The kids followed a baby raccoon all around the creek by our house.

A fun visit with the DiGirolamos while they were in town!

I picked up a few hermit crabs at the pet store, and day after was lucky enough to observe this female switching shells while carrying a bunch of eggs.  She must have been newly captured, as I have heard it is very hard to breed hermit crabs in captivity.  Not sure whatever happened to the eggs.  They might have been eaten :(

Another neat animal obssevation that summer was the frogs that Mary and her friend Anna captured at a nearby lake. They got to see the stage where the tadpole has developed legs, but still has a tail!

Here are the baby birds as they got a bit bigger.

They were soon too large for the nest, and ready to fly away!

The kids started a homeschool enrichment program through a classical charter school on Wednesdays.  It has been such a good fit for our family.

Juliana is 5!
