RIP Grandpa

My grandfather passed away on July 14th.  It was a crazy weekend; we celebrated my cousin's wedding on the 13th, and he died the next morning.  He suffered a lot in the last few weeks, and we are glad he went peacefully.  The service was a few days ago, and it was nice to hear about his life and the impact he had on many people.  We love you grandpa, and will miss you lots!

My Squish

At 18 pounds, Lucy is just 5 pounds lighter than her big sister.  She is a loveable ball of squish and I can't get enough of her Michelin Man legs and chubby round face.  She will be 8 months old next week, and is moving around more.  She loves to roll like little Alex did, and gets herself stuck in crazy spots, like under beds :)  It will be fun when she starts crawling and can follow her siblings around. She is just in awe of them, and watches everything they do so intently.   I am blessed by lots of laughter from her every day, and her sweet smiles warm my heart :)

4 years old

My oldest is now 4 years old!  He is such a joy; full of wonder and excitement and lots of questions!  He is very observant of the world around him, and has a great memory.  For example we got a flyer in the mail about city projects and there was a picture of a street they are doing construction on.  Alex saw it and remembered it was the street he had driven down to go to a restaurant several months ago, even though the restaurant wasn't pictured.  He is still crazy about space, rockets and astronauts.  We had a space birthday party for him, and he was sooo excited about all of the space-themed items :)

Birthday breakfast :)

Rocket kabobs

I was so excited to find the space adventure goldfish crackers!

The kids played an asteroid (water balloons) toss game...

And then when on a moon rock (foil-wrapped Starburst candy) hunt around the backyard.

Can't wait to see what year 4 brings!

June pictures

I have lots of June pictures, and not a lot of time to do several posts, so I will just put them all here (with the exception of Alex's b-day pictures).  It was a busy month, as always, and I can't believe it is already almost mid-July!  We have lots of more fun stuff scheduled for the rest of the summer, and during the down time I am going to really work on a home management binder with daily, weekly and monthly schedules and chore charts to help keep us on track when the busy school year starts!

A few preschool co-op friends came over to make pinecone bird feeders in early June.  We hung ours on a tree that evening and by the next morning, only the string was left.  The squirrels must have stolen them during the night, so we won't be making any more any time soon!

This girl loves to be outside, and hung out on a blanket most of the time :)

After they were finished with the bird feeders, I made some cloud dough sensory bins and let them play for awhile with measuring cups and spoons.

Here are a few pics of the kids playing in the pool during a co-op planning meeting.  It was a lot of kids for that little pool, but they had a blast.

We did a space field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, so naturally Alex was completely enthralled with everything.  We saw a demo show about liquid nitrogen, and even got to see a free planetarium show.

One of the moms made a space tot pack for the kids to do during lunch.  Here they are putting stickers on planet pictures.

We went to a tea party birthday a few weeks ago for our friend Graycen.  It was super cute :)

A group photo of all the kids.

Lucy and Makayla, playing with a cup :)

We also went to the Children's Museum for the first time since we have been in Denver.

Alex got new shoes for Fathers Day :)

And a fun candy gram from the kids (idea courtesy of Pinterest).

After a relaxing day at home, we went to my parents house for a bbq.

My parents were able to bring my grandpa to the house for a little while, which was great.  He had to have one of his legs amputated last week, due to lots of circulation problems, so we are praying for a speedy recovery!

My dad loved the photo book we made for him :)

My parents watched the kids so Alex and I could go out for our 5th Anniversary on the 28th.  We didn't do much, just a quick dinner.  Lucy won't take a bottle, and still doesn't eat much solid food, so I can't be away from her for too long.  Maybe next year we can get away for the whole night, but it was nice to have a few hours alone with hubby.  And we managed to get a picture together :)

Five wonderful years!
