Our Colorado Springs trip

We took a mini vacation down to Colorado Springs for one night at the beginning on July.  It was our first family trip together, and it was so nice to get away, even though it was just one night.  We headed to Garden of the Gods when we got down there, which is a beautiful park full of red rock formations.  It is a popular place for hiking, rock climbing, or just driving through and taking in the beautful scenery.  We tried to get out and walk around, but the kids started complaining of being hot and hungry, so we decided to go get lunch and try and go back the next day.

We tried Hotwire for our hotel room, and lucked out with a family-friendly place called Hotel Elegante.  They had an indoor play area for the kids, a ping pong table, a nice indoor pool, ice cream shop, and a "kids eat free" restaurant.

The last stop on our trip was the Focus on the Family visitor center.  Focus of the Family is a Protestant ministry that provides help and resources for building strong marriages and families.  They have an awesome children's area, and a cute little soda shoppe.

"Cheese!"

Looking forward to our next trip!  Maybe we will venture a bit farther next time :)

Alex's 5th Birthday

This year is an "off" year for parties, so we went to Chuck E. Cheese the morning of his birthday and had family over for cake and ice cream later on.  They love this place, and talk about it all the time.

He put the nerds he got as a prize in his peanut butter sandwich. Silly boy :)

New bike!

We told him to make a wish and he thought about it for a good 10 seconds :)

Happy Birthday Alex!  We love you, and can't wait to make lots of memories in the next 5 years!
